EV Benefits & Incentives

Electric vehicles offer significant environmental and economic benefits over internal combustion engine vehicles.
To encourage adoption of electric vehicles, there are a number of federal and state tax incentives.

We've outlined the benefits and incentives in these graphics:

Environmental Benefits: switching from traditional combustion engines to electric vehicles (EVs) in urban areas will lead to a 100% reduction in volatile compounds and carbon monoxide; a 75% reduction in sulfur oxide; a 69% reduction in nitrous oxide; a 31% reduction in particulate matter; and a 19% reduction in lifecycle carbon emissions.Economic Benefits: a widespread shift from internal combustion vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs) has the potential for significant job creation. By 2030, with a targeted focus on transportation electrification, the economy could see as many as: 1.9 million potential jobs in the U.S.; 8,000 to 19,000 potential jobs in Oregon; more than $20 million in Federal Funding already flowing into Oregon for advanced battery and infrastructure development. Transitioning to electric vehicles will help keep money in the local economy through lower operating costs and "fuel" provided by local utilities.
